Two fourth grade classes from Estrella Mountain Elementary School attended a private tour of the history museum at the Estrella Information Center on March 2nd and 3rd, 2009. The history museum, which opened in August of 2008, encompasses the past, present, and future of Estrella and Goodyear.
The students from each class had the opportunity to explore the rich history of Estrella by examining the four panel timeline, the artifact kiosk displays, and the topography table. Students filled in worksheet guides and also participated in an exciting seek-and-find activity to optimize the learning experience.
“My class loved visiting the history museum,” said Deb Riley, one of the 4th grade teachers at Estrella Mountain Elementary School whose class participated in the field trip. “They especially liked locating their houses on the topography table and learning about the history of their community through the timeline.”
In April, the third 4th grade class from Estrella Mountain Elementary School, as well as all three 4th grade classes from Westar Elementary are also scheduled to visit the history museum. Estrella is proud to offer the history museum field trips to Estrella’s youth in hopes of promoting better education and an interest in Estrella’s future development and discovery.
