BASHAS' SUPERMARKET COMING TO MOUNTAIN RANCH MARKETPLACE IN GOODYEAR

Newland Communities and Kitchell Development Company Secure First Grocery Store for Surrounding Community

A 50,000-square-foot Bashas’ Supermarket will be the anchor tenant in the Mountain Ranch Marketplace retail center, located at the northwest corner of Estrella Parkway and Elliot Road in Goodyear, company officials announced today. Newland Communities and Kitchell Development Company negotiated the deal with Bashas’. Construction is scheduled to start during the first quarter of 2008, and the store is planned to open by fall 2009.

"Newland Communities is very proud to make this essential retail amenity a reality for our Estrella residents,” said Greg Bielli, president of the Mountain Region for Newland Communities. “Bashas’ is a family-operated, ‘customer-centric’ grocer, and they treat their customers and employees as family. They’ve been serving Arizona for 75 years and their philosophy reflects the spirit of Estrella, where we’re focused on family, a small town atmosphere and a sense of community. We complement one another; it’s an ideal fit.”

Newland Communities recently formed a partnership with Kitchell Development Company for developing and building Mountain Ranch Marketplace. The 170,000-square-foot specialty retail center incorporates a sustainable design concept with natural shading, wood from sustainable forests, eco-friendly plants, low-water native vegetation, and energy-efficient, insulated glass, in addition to numerous other elements.

“We’re looking forward to bringing a first-class shopping experience to Goodyear residents,” said David Basha, director of real estate development for Bashas’ Family of Stores. “Shoppers will find fresh foods and superior customer service in our new prototype store that’s been specifically designed to meet their needs.”

According to Schubert, a number of retailers have a strong interest in Mountain Ranch Marketplace including a drug store, bank, various restaurants, coffee shop, hardware store, day-care center, dental office, hair and nail salons, realty office and many others.
