Estrella’s Lakeside Amphitheater will transform into a stage of precision dance on Friday, September 26, as Ballet Arizona’s beloved Ballet Under the Stars returns for the 2025 season.
Estrella is proud to host one of these enchanting performances in our community. The performance is free and begins at 7 p.m.
Presented by the Diane and Bruce Halle Foundation, Ballet Under the Stars invites families to experience the grace and power of ballet in a relaxed, open-air setting. The and the Estrella performance promises to be one of the most spectacular stops along the tour. With a professional stage, lighting, and full costumes set against the beautiful desert evening, it’s a chance to enjoy breathtaking artistry just steps from home.
Ballet Arizona will present excerpts from contemporary and classical works, including:
- “Take Me With You,” choreographed by Robert Bondara, set to music by Radiohead; a piece that blends ballet with rock in unexpectedly moving ways.
- “Nocturne,” a romantic duet performed to Chopin’s “Nocturne No. 13,” choreographed by Artistic Director Daniela Cardim.
- A glimpse of the timeless fairytale The Sleeping Beauty, which Ballet Arizona will present in full later this fall.
There’s more magic in store: through Ballet Arizona’s Class Act program, local elementary students will perform original choreography developed during a three-week training program. This special spotlight celebrates the creativity and dedication of young dancers from across the Valley, supported by Joan Benjamin and Laurence Cherkis. Last year students from Westar Elementary School performed for the crowd.
Bring a blanket, lawn chairs, pack a picnic, and enjoy local food trucks while you experience world-class ballet with your neighbors and loved ones. Please leave tents, umbrellas, and pets at home.
Whether you’re a longtime fan or new to the art form, this is a perfect night to fall in love with dance under the stars.
