Estrella’s captivating community event, Ballet Under the Stars, was an incredible success again this year. We were thrilled to host 4,500 people, Sunday, September 11, for an enchanting evening with professional dancers and our very own third and fourth grade student performers from Estrella Mountain Elementary School lighting up the night.
The evening began with a heartfelt thank you from City of Goodyear Mayor Joe Pizzillo and Jeff Zimmerman, Director of Entitlements and Development at Estrella. Topping off the evening, after the children performed, the mayor and several city councilmembers helped Jeff Zimmerman hand out gorgeous roses, provided by Estrella’s developers, to let each child know how proud the community is of their bravery to shine on stage in front of such a large audience.
Picnic blankets and lawn chairs dotted the grassy hill overlooking North Lake as the crowd remained spellbound throughout the event. A plethora of food trucks provided plenty of refreshments and a gentle breeze made it the perfect Arizona evening.
Celebrating its 10th anniversary at Estrella, this annual free event is open to the public at Estrella’s Lakeside Amphitheater in Goodyear. Each year, Ballet Arizona, a nationally recognized ballet company, presents awe-inspiring contemporary and classical ballet excerpts. The performances are the perfect introduction to the arts for young children, many of which may be inspired by ballet for the first time at Ballet Under the Stars.
