Celebrate Labor Day and the end of summer with events in and near Estrella and the thriving West Valley throughout August and September. We found a wide range of happenings in Goodyear, Surprise, Buckeye and Glendale as summer draws to a close, from ballet and baseball to golf and pool parties! Gather with family and friends to soak up the last few days of freedom before the busyness of fall and a new school year begins.

Ballet Under the Stars

Sunday, September 11 at 7 p.m.
The enchanting Ballet Under the Stars event at Estrella is a local favorite. Now celebrating its 10th year, these captivating performances are free and open to the public, with more than 5,000 people expected to gather at the picturesque lakeside setting. Celebrated as Estrella’s premier community event, Ballet Arizona, a nationally recognized ballet company, will present awe-inspiring contemporary and classical ballet excerpts preceded by charming local children’s dance performances against the backdrop of the majestic Estrella Mountains. Picnic blankets and lawn chairs are welcome on the gently sloping grassy hill, bring your own dinner or sample a tasty onsite food truck, then settle in and enjoy inspiring performances under the stars.

Golf Club at Estrella

Anytime: Gather family or friends together and book a tee time on the award-winning Golf Club at Estrella, consistently ranked by Golfweek magazine as one of the Top-Twenty Public Courses in Arizona. With a range of golf specials this August and September, as well as summer buckets of beer for $13 and weekly dining specials at the restaurant, a little golf and refreshment at the close of the day makes for a perfect Labor Day weekend.

Labor Day Perfect Game Tournaments Royal and Rangers

September 2-5. The Kansas City Royals and the Texas Rangers Perfect Game tournaments at the Surprise Spring Training Complex are the place to be Labor Day weekend. At Perfect Game events, players are performing with top-level competition in front of college recruiters and professional scouts from all over the country. They take place on the auxiliary fields that surround the stadium. The general public is welcome to attend; general information is updated at the link above.

Labor Day Pool Celebration at Aquatic Center in Buckeye

September 5, 12-6 p.m. End the summer with a splash in the pool! Bring your towels and suits for our last pool party of the summer. All ages, $2. Show your military ID at the door and admission is FREE for you and your family.

Midwest Classic Labor Day Celebration at Martin Auto Museum and Event Center

Saturday, Sept. 3, 5-9 p.m. Escape to a water getaway at Scorpion Bay for Labor Day weekend. The dock will be rocking as The Vibe performs live Classic Rock and Pop from artists such as Led Zeppelin, The Pretenders, Michael Jackson and more. Charter boats available.
